5.6.1 Preface:

 

Use the "Settings" register for the administration of and information on network connections.

5.6.2 Information:

 

The "Information" screen contains information on the Thin Client system. It only contains read-only parameter fields.

Main

 

Field with information on the current firmware of the Thin Client.

RemoteHMI Firmware

Specifies the revision of this "RemoteHMI Menu".

Device Type

Specifies the device type on which the "RemoteHMI Menu" is currently running.

 

 

System

 

This field contains information on the platform of the Thin Client.

Processor

Specifies the processor used.

SSD .....*1

Specifies the storage medium used,

its size and the remaining

free storage capacity.

RAM

Specifies the dynamic memory (main memory)

 

total

Size of total available memory

usable

Size of the memory currently unused

free

Size of the memory currently unused

minus reserved memory areas

UWF

(Unified Write Filter)

Write filter for the data storage system which ensures that the application is not affected by a Windows update.

Enabled

The write filter is activated.

x MB RAM ... *2

Size of memory area where files of the Windows updates are currently saved.

Operating System

Information on operating system used.

The title reflects

a) the type of storage medium (here: SSD)

b) the hardware of the storage medium

.

Make sure that the memory area reserved for Windows updates is cleared regularly because it can have a negative impact on system performance.

 

When the device is started up, the Windows updates are adopted and the memory area is cleard.

 

 

Submodules

 

This field contains information on the platform of the Thin Client.

OS Image

Revision number of the operating system (Windows).

RemoteHMI Shell

Revision number of the RemoteHMI Shell.

Device Control

Revision number of the Device Control (see Dvice Settings ).

5.6.3 System & Network:

 

Use the "System & Networks" screen for information on and configuration of the Thin Client system.

Device Identity

 

This field contains information on the platform of the Thin Client.

Computer Name

Use this field to specify a name for the Thin Client with which it can be identified in the network.

Beschreibung

Enter a description of the Thin Client here.

Shows the current domain of the network where the Thin Client is logged in.

 

 

Proxy

 

Use a Proxy Server

Fgr_MnuSwitchOn

When switched on, the use of a proxy server is assumed. The "Address" field is activated.

Fgr_MnuSwitchOff

When switched off, the use of a proxy server is not assumed. The "Address" field is deactivated.

Address

Input field for IP address

or the synonym of the proxy server used.

 

 

5.6.4 Security:

 

Use the "Security" screen to activate the Windows security systems.

The Windows security systems provide services to protect the Thin Client from unauthorised access and malware.

 

System Security:

Windows Firewall *1

Use the Windows firewall to prevent hackers or malware from gaining access to the Thin Client via the internet or a network.

The Windows firewall is not active.

Fgr_MnuSwitchOn

The Windows firewall is active.

Windows

Security updates *2

This Windows service ensures that the Thin Client regularly updates the Windows system files in order to remove identified and fixed system errors. The updates play a fundamental part in the protection against malware.

Fgr_MnuSwitchOff

The Windows update is not active.

Fgr_MnuSwitchOn

The Windows update is active.

Please be aware of the risk of hackers and malware even in networks

without a direct internet connection.

Activation requires access to the internet

to download the updated system files.

 

5.6.5 User Interface:

 

Use the "User Interface" to edit the behaviour of this user interface (Remote Menu).

Sidebar:

Auto Hide after Connect

Fgr_MnuSwitchOn

When switched on, the "Remote Menu" is automatically hidden to provide full access to the remote application.

Fgr_MnuSwitchOff

The automatic function is deactivated and the user has to close the  "Remote Menu" by clicking on Fgr_MnuClose.

 

Input Form:

Default leave Action

Defines how changes that were not saved are handled in the "Remote Menu" when this is closed by a different process.

 

Fgr_MnuBtn_Apply

If active,

the changes in the "Remote Menu" will be automatically saved.

Fgr_MnuBtn_Revert

If active,

the changes in the "Remote Menu" will automatically be rejected.

 

Keyboard Layout:

Fgr_MnuDrpDwn_KeyBrdLayout

Selection field for specifying the keyboard layout.

In this example, the American (english) QWERTY keyboard.

 

 

5.6.6 Access Control:

 

Use the "Access Control" screen to set up and activate password-protected user levels.

Input field for specifying the password for user level "Engineer".

Input field for specifying the password for user level " "Administrator".

The user level "Operator" does not require a password.

 

Auto Logout:

Automatic log-out is active. *2

Automatic log-out is not active.

The automatic log-out function only affects user levels "Engineer" and "Admin", they are logged out and user level "Operator" is activated.

 

To ensure operability of the application(s), there is no auto-logout for the "Operator" user level.

Slide control to specify the time of inactivity after which a user is automatically logged out.

5.6.7 Connections:

 

Use the "Connections" screen to set the connection options.

Allow Multiple Connections:

Fgr_MnuSwitchOn

Several connections to Remote servers can be established simultaneously for fast access.

Fgr_MnuSwitchOff

Only one connection can be established at a time.

 

 

Connections Health Check *1:

Fgr_MnuSwitchOn

Activates server connection monitoring. The connection to the Remote server is monitored by sending "Echo Request" packets.

Fgr_MnuSwitchOff

Deactivates the monitoring of the server connection.

The Remote server firewall

must not block the "Echo Request" packet dialogue.

 

A set up connection can have 4 different connection statuses.

 

Fgr_ConnectionStates

Indicates that the connection could not be established via the Ethernet

Indicates that the connection server has been recognised

Indicates that a connection to the server has been established

and is shown in the Thin Client

 

Indicates that a connection to the server has been established

and is currently NOT shown in the Thin Client

 

 

 

5.6.8 Display:

 

Use the "Connections" screen to set the connection options.

Display Resolution:

 

Display 1

Selection field for specifying the screen resolution of the first screen.

Display 2 *1

Selection foield for specifying the screen resolution of the second screen.

 

Display 1 & Display 2 *1:

Fgr_MnuSwitchOn

Activates "Portrait Mode" *2; the screen is operated vertically.

Fgr_MnuSwitchOff

Deactivates "Portrait Mode", the monitor is operated horizontally.

Display 2 is only relevant for Thin Clients with a second monitor!

In "Portrait Mode", the monitor can be positioned vertically.

 

 

Screen Saver:

 

Fgr_MnuSwitchOn

Switches the screen saver on.

Fgr_MnuSwitchOff

Switches the screen saver off.

 

 

Fgr_LogoutLeveler

Slider to set the time without user action after which the screen saver is activated.

5.6.9 Update:

 

The "Update" screen contains information and can be used to activate the update function of the "RemoteHMI Menu".

Installed Firmware

 

This field contains information on the current firmware running on the Thin Client.

 

 

Firmware Update

 

Check USB Flash Drive *1:

Fgr_MnuSwitchOn

Activates search for firmware updates.

Fgr_MnuSwitchOff

Deactivates search for firmware updates

 

*1)

A USB flash drive inserted in the Thin Client is searched for a more up-to-date firmware for the "RemoteHMI Menu".

 

 

5.6.10 Legal Notices:

 

The "Legal Notices" screen contains information on the licenses of the software running on the Thin Client.
