For the network configuration, select and confirm the CONFIGURATION menu item. The following window will appear:

KVM-Box internal

Use the network configuration to set network-related parameters of the KVM box. Fields that do not allow direct input but instead have specific options to select from are highlighted by the ← and characters.

The NETWORK CONFIGURATION menu item will take you to the network settings.

USE DHCP

This DHCP option is only relevant when the Thin Client system is used in an existing company network with DHCP server.

DHCP allows the direct inclusion of a computer (or, in our case, a Thin Client) into an existing network without its manual configuration. Usually, the only setting that is required (here realised via the KVM box) is the automatic relation of the IP address ( use dhcp = yes). When the Thin Client is started via the KVM box within the network, the KVM box can get the IP address, the network screen, the gateway and the DNS server from the connected DHCP server.

The DNS server in turn is used to convert names of computers or services. "Conversion" here means a process by which the server changes the names of computers or servers into one that can be processsed by the computer. Human beings find it easier to memorise proper names, whereas computers need numerical addresses. The internet, for example, uses names as addresses ("www.stahl.de"). This name must be converted to an IP address so that the computer can access the website. The Domain Name System (DNS) is one of the most important internet services. Its main task is responding to name conversion requests. The DNS should answer a request containing a host name (an internet computer name human users can easily memorise) with the associated IP address (the connection number in the internet), for example an IPv4 address like this one: 192.168.1.1 °.

The options are:

NO

The IP address specified under IP ADDRESS is used.

YES

After being switched on, the KVM box will request an IP address via the DHCP server.

Enable IPV6

Use the ENABLE IPV6 setting to specify the address format of the IP addresses

Hinweis Currently, only the IPV4 protocol is supported.

The options are:

NO

The KVM box uses the Internet Protocol version 4 (IPV 4)

YES

The KVM box uses the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPV 6)

View Protocol

Use the VIEW PROTOCOL item and the IP-ADDRESS, NET MASK and GATEWAY fields to define the internet protocol format (IPV4 or IPV6).

The options are:

IPV4

The KVM box uses the input format of Internet protocol version 4 (IPV4)

IPV6

The KVM box uses the input format of Internet protocol version 6 (IPV6)

IP Address

Use this field to define the IP address of the KVM box. The original IP address (factory setting) of the KVM box is 192.168.1.22. This address should only be changed for advanced setups of the Thin Client and should otherwise remain unchanged. In the standard configuration, the Thin Client attempts to connect to the KVM box under this address.

Net Mask

Use the NET MASK menu item to define the network mask of the KVM box. In line with the IP address of the KVM box the address of the network mask is 255.255.255.0.

Gateway

This Gateway option is only relevant when the Thin Client system is used in an existing company network.

Use this field to enter the Gateway address responsible for the connection of different network segments. The gateway address is only necessary for complex network scenarios. As a standard, this field is left blank.

VNC Port

This VNC port option is only relevant when the Thin Client system is used in an existing company network.

The VNC Port is set to start address 5900, but this can be changed. If the address is changed, this must be done for both participants. The port address for the KVM box and the Thin Client must therefore be the same.

HTTP Port

Hinweis This function is not supported by the Thin Client.

Clear IP Access Control

Hinweis This function is not supported by the Thin Client.

Save/Cancel

Use the SAVE menu item to save and activate all settings / changes you have made.

Use the CANCEL menu item to cancel all changes. The values saved previously will be retained.
