Once the appropriate word number has been integrated, the start address as well as the entire word range of the peripheral input and output area is allocated automatcially by Step7.

In the standard version, the addresses for the input and output area are in the same registers.

If more DP slave participants are defined, Step7 will again automatically allocate the addresses in ascending order, provided the next area is not blocked by other participants.

You have the option of freely defining the input/output addresses, too.

For this, double-click on the slot in question. The DP slave properaties window with address/id will open.

NB: each slot may be edited or changed independently of the others.

To change the address range you merely need to change the start address. All other parameters will be changed automatically in the background.

If any changes result in overlaps, Step7 will issue a notice and suggest a free range.
