Text list attributes
The texts configured in text lists are clearly assigned to a value and/or value areas.
Text lists allow the indication of a text depending on a value in the variable (actual value). On the other hand, the assigned value can be entered into the variable (actual value) by preselecting a text. It is not possible and not allowed to combine both possibilities.
The Base text list dialogue provides you with all information on the configured texts and the assigned values. Changes cannot be made in this dialogue.
On the base page, you have the choice between a text list with decimal control or bit control.
For information on the operation of both options, please refer to the table overview.
For entering, assigning or modifying texts, use the tabs in the dialogue Attributes.

Creation of text list
After having specified a name for the text list in the "Field properties" dialogue of the text list, switch to the properties dialogs by clicking the button and define the texts with the assigned values in these dialogues.
The first text, which you assign to the value area by entering it in the field "Text", is displayed as default value. This is always done, if a value which was not created in the text list is entered in the assigned analog variable.
In the above example, the values 0-8 are clearly defined, thus showing the assigned texts. If a value other than 0-8 is entered into the analog variable, this value is not defined. Consequently, the text specified as default text is displayed.
Within the dialogue Languages, you can select the language you wish to use for configuring the texts of the text list among the configured languages.
Thus, you can create a text list in several languages without exiting the dialogue. Furthermore, it is possible and useful to do the translation comfortably by using the function "Import language" and/or "Export language".
When doing the translation directly in the opened text list, you can select a reference language in addition. With this reference language, the text to be translated is shown in the preferred language, thus the reference language is used for orientation purposes.
