The following notes and information on safety and risks for Thin Clients apply to all units from firmware 4.0 onwards.

Boot capability from a USB stick

It must be possible to boot the Thin Clients from a connected USB stick for the STAHL Recovery USB stick to work properly. In theory, the device can be started from a bootable USB stick with its own operating system that allows access to the system partition of the internal flash memory and thus any type of manipulation. However, for this, the attacker would first need to be able to briefly interrupt the device's voltage supply (to enforce a new start) and secondly, must gain physical access to one of the device's USB ports.

If there is a risk of this happening, these USB ports must therefore be protected against unauthorised access.
