This chapter deals with the causes and fixing of errors and faulty or wrong settings detected during the network diagnosis in the start phase, which result in a failed connection.
Cause of fault: network cable
Fault status LEDs
Cause
Remedy

Network cable (copper or optical fiber) is not connected to the Thin Client
•Connect network cable to the Thin Client |
In case of copper cable:
Network cable is incorrectly wired
(Tx and Rx pair mixed up)
(Both Tx or Rx wires are not connected)
•Check network connection •Check pin allocation •Wire cable correctly •Cable wires according to EIA/TIA-T568 A or B or Profinet Standard |
In case of optical fiber
Optical fiber cables are mixed up
•Check network connection •Switch optical fiber cables |
In case of optical fiber
SK-KJ17xx defect or without potential
•Supply power to SK-KJ17xx •Replace SK-KJ17xx |
Network cable is not connected to the counter station (computer / KVM-box/switch)
•Connect network cable to the counter station (computer / KVM-box/switch) |
Network cable / patch cable (copper or optical fiber) is defect
•Test network cable / patch cable •Replace network cable / patch cable |
Cause of error Local IP address
Fault status LEDs
Cause
Remedy

Internal fault when allocating the local IP address of the Thin Client
•Switch the Thin Client off and then on again. |
Cause of fault Ping
Fault status LEDs
Cause
Remedy

Counter station (computer / KVM-box / switch) cannot be contacted
•Switch on counter station •Check whether counter station is supplied with power •Check connection between switch and counter station •In case of optical fiber
Check whether network interface of SK-KJ17xx is connected |
In case of copper cable:
Not all network cables correctly wired
(single wire missing)
(+ and - wire of the Tx or Rx cable are switched)
•Check network connection •Check pin allocation •Wire cable correctly •Cable wires according to EIA/TIA-T585 A or B or Profinet Standard |
In case of optical fiber
Transmitter cable incorrectly connected
•Connect transmitter cable correctly •Check transmitter cable (plug / broken fibre) |
If using a switch:
No connection between switch and computer or KVM-box
•Check connection between switch and counter station •In case of optical fiber
Check whether network interface of SK-KJ17xx is connected |
Firewall is blocking ping requests to the counter station.
•Check firewall settings on counter station. |
Incorrect IP address configuration of the Thin Client or the KVM-box.
•Check that target address matches the counter station. •Correct the IP address configuration of the stations. |
Fehlerursache IP Adressenkonflikt
Fault status LEDs
Cause
Remedy

A different network station has the same IP address as the Thin Client
•Check the IP addresses of the network stations •Allocate unique IP addresses to the network stations |
Cause of fault Remote Station
Fault status LEDs
Cause
Remedy

Counter station cannot be reached with the current IP settings (without gateway)
•Match IP settings to the counter station (must be within the same sub-net) •Define gateway address |
IP settings of the counter station are in a different sub-net
In case of automatic IP configuration:
DHCP server not available in network
•Check availability of DHCP server •Enable DHCP server function |
In case of symbolic target address (host address):
Name of counter station cannot be unscrambled
(DNS server unavailable)
(DNS service not started)
(Symbolic name not in DNS table)
•Contact network administrator •Provide DNS server •Start DNS service •Enter symbolic name into table |
Cause of fault: RDP/VNC server
Fault status LEDs
Cause
Remedy

No Remote Server Service of the expected type (RDP/VNC) is active at the counter station.
•Instal correct Remote Server Service •Activate correct Remote Server Service •Adjust configuration of Remote Server Service |
Firewall is blocking connection to remote server
•Check firewall settings on counter station. |
In case of RDP:
Settings / policies in the counter station prevent connection
•Check RDP settings / policies on counter station. •Correct RDP settings / policies on counter station. |
In case of VNC:
Settings of the VNC server prevent connection
•Check VNC settings on counter station. •Correct VNC settings |
In case of KVM-box
The host computer's digital video signal (DVI) is incompatible with the KVM-box
•Use analogue (VGA) video connection •Replace graphics card of the host PC •Update graphics driver of the host PC |
For NetC@p:
Settings of the NetC@p server prevent connection
•Check VNC settings on counter station. •Correct VNC settings |
