The data connection between the device ET / MT - 3x6 and the control system from the hazardous area is established by means of an optical fibre connection to a type 9721 media converter. This media converter establishes the connection to the control system via an Ethernet connection.

 

Optical fibre connection

The optical fibre cable must be connected to the device by means of a type LC duplex connector with duplex clip.

Cables connected to the Ethernet terminals (X11) must have a minimum cross section of 0.2 mm² (metric) (AWG 24).

Which cable cross sections are chosen should be decided on the basis of relevant regulations, such as DIN VDE 0298 . Factors that might require a larger cross section, such as current, increased temperatures, cable bundling, etc. must also be taken into account.
